At Opportunity Works, our days are not just ordinary days; our days are full of stories of true success!

Life always presents challenges. As you ponder your life experiences, have you ever wondered what it would be like if you or any of your loved ones were unable to see, speak, hear, walk, move or be intellectually challenged? How different would your life be? What obstacles would you encounter? Individuals with developmental disabilities such as Carole have overcome many obstacles in life that we could never dream of undertaking. She truly sees life differently. She knows the true meaning of happiness by experiencing love through the simple things in life. Her never-ending smile gives it away.

Since 1974, Opportunity Works has supported adults with developmental disabilities to experience the freedom to live, work and enjoy a valued role in society.  Through a variety of programs and services that range from life skills to vocational training and day habilitation, our mission is to help individuals feel a strong sense of belonging in the community and become as independent as possible.  When you support Opportunity Works, you invest in programs that truly impact the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families throughout the Merrimack Valley!

"If we open our minds and hearts to see through the eyes of people with disabilities, we could easily learn a thousand separate lessons; the most important one being that none of us is perfect. Help us promote our mission!"

She Sees it Differently Written by: Kathleen Ludwick
Photograph by: Emily Wiswell

She sees it differently
She's out on her own
It's snowing outside
And she's without a home

Under a bridge
Is where she resides
A character in town
On everyone's mind

A woman who knows her
Is willing to help
Is wanting to take her
To ease all she's felt

She sees it differently
She's not on her own
With a family and job
She now has a home.
